Minister of Science, Research and Technology visits ISTT

Dr. Seyed Zia Hashemi, Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology visited Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT)on the 7^th of Sep, 2018. During this visit the minister emphasized on the fact that ISTT plays an important role in the development of the region and that the ministry pursues the spread of its example and influence throughout the country. He continued to explain that the ministry intends to benefit from the capacities available at ISTT and will remove all obstacles that pose a hindrance to this course.

Dr. Hashemi elaborated that the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology is following its macro-developmental policy for the recognition of new talents and innovations that are in need of support. He further went on to say that the results that ISTT has achieved in this field with the given support offered to them, have thus far been acceptable and it is widely believed at the ministry that should an increase occur in their financial support, the technical and innovative consequences that will follow, will surely increase.

The Minister went on to say that our Universities and Research Institutes also need to play a more active role in the Social development of the country and help in the alleviation of our societal problems and that for this purpose, ISTT is a viable example.

Dr. Hashemi explained that in his belief with ISTT working as an industrial and economic center influential in the development of the province of Isfahan, there is an abundant potential and capacity amongst its university professors, students and researchers whom are in need of encouragement and incitement towards risk taking.

In continuation Dr. Hashemi expressed his belief that ISTT has accomplished much towards the commercialization and value making of products, and also in the creation of wealth from science and technology. Dr. Hashemi hoped that the trend will continue for years to come.

The Minister then took a tour of ISTT and visited a number of knowledge based companies settled therein including Almas San’at Farnia, Behyar San’at Sepahan, Ehyagaran Ghalb San’at Asia and Pertikan Light Cement. On this tour he was accompanied by Dr. Khosro Piri, the Director General of Technology Affairs at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and he also visited ISTT’s Technology Tower, Children’s Science Park, Abu Reyhan Science and Technology Park and the office of Isfahan Regional Center for Technology Incubator and Science Park Development (IRIS) which is hosted at ISTT. During this tour the Minister was also informed about the activities and main objectives of IRIS.
